The Man Behind Precision Handicapping

A surprising sequence of events helped shape my journey into the gaming business. At eighteen, I was accepted into medical school, a path I ultimately chose to forgo in favor of pursuing a Master’s degree in Statistics. While still studying, I had the opportunity to open some unique retail operations. These grew and developed into one of the most prominent event companies in the eastern United States.

My next career move was not on “my list of things to do” growing up. But… after my wife and family, turned out to be the best choice I ever made. Here's how it happened. A friend, who respected my opinion, was having some financial and ethical issues with horse ownership and asked for advice. I knew little about the business. That was about to change.

Horsemanship and gaming can get into your blood. I became obsessed and learned everything I could about racing and gambling. There arguably wasn’t a book or periodical about game theory, statistics, or racing (even vet books) I didn’t read. Things evolved into something much bigger. First, I learned how to sustain long-term profits wagering on horses. BTW… It’s a lot of work! Then I developed a new system for horse syndication (which since has been copied) and successfully started handicapping thoroughbreds. This led to my next obsession.

My passion to beat the most efficient market in the sports business… Football. I proved this possible but only with constant effort and the acknowledgment that change is rapid. Models and angles need to be constantly modified to take advantage of flaws in the markets. Today, handicapping football and horse racing is my sole occupation. I’ve combined statistical analytics, a profound understanding of game theory, and something else that’s important but overlooked, a learned understanding of human behavior. This combination has led to consistent long-term profits.

I’m currently writing my third book (horse racing). My previous, on football handicapping, was a bestseller. I’ve shared my expertise on television and radio, offering analysis to a wide audience including ESPN Radio, Marketwatch, The Business Journal, USRacing, etc. Since dedicating myself exclusively to wagering, I’ve cultivated a loyal following who have trusted my expertise for over 20 years. Whether you’re looking for winning picks or a deeper understanding of the sports handicapping world, I’d like to think that; “I’m your go-to resource.”
