This is arguably the only game of the season where public money appreciably affects the line.
Depending on the Sportsbook, it opened at Kansas City -1 to -1.5, moved to Chiefs -2, and at the time of this writing has settled closer to even money.
For the last two weeks we've gotten to see and hear lots of analysts pick a side and then manipulate numbers or sentiments to support their choice. Most seem to be taking Kansas City because the Eagles got 4 turnovers against The Commanders. That probably won't happen on February 9th. And the Chiefs have built a dynasty that rivals previous Patriot teams.
I'm not going to bore you or present a math lesson.
Instead, there could be some compelling reasons to favor one side.
1) We’ve already noted that many analysts like The Chiefs. The majority of TV and radio handicappers converted less that 50% this season (and last year also).
2) Philly has a play that other defenses have difficulty preventing. This used to be something they just attempted from around the one-yard line. Now they're confident trying from further out.
3) In last year’s Super Bowl, the 49ers were favored by 1.5 points. I think the Eagles are better than that 49ers team. I think this year’s version of the Chiefs is a little weaker.
4) Let's keep this simple. Philly has a superior offensive line and a better and healthier defense than Kansas City has faced this season.
Maybe The Chiefs continue their impressive run, but we have the Philadelphia Eagles plus 2.
This was the number released to our subscribers early Monday morning, January 27th, 2025 and at the time was available at Caesars, Bookmaker and Bet 365.
It's moved since.
Those who made bets early got better value.
