Unfortunately, at the lower levels we seem to be building temporary teams and not programs. Coaches have limited longevity and players often follow. It's not automatic that a team loses when their head coach leaves, but it's a good possibility for The Bearkats.
Head coach Keeler goes to Temple. Their defensive coordinator Cassity is also leaving and taking lots of staff. At the time of this writing the leading tackler for Conference USA-Caleb Weaver(Houston) is transferring.
A little update since our initial release: Surprisingly, many of the defensive transfers have decided to play.
They’ve made the 3-hour drive, so they probably are. The higher profile players who declared are probably not, with so much NIL money on the line.
In addition: Southern Georgia has played a tougher strength of schedule, has a solid quarterback, and if the unfortunate happens-his backup is capable.
