This is one game where we didn’t get the best number because of the late injury status of Sun Devil wide receiver Jordan Tyson. He led the team in receptions, but others should be able to step-up.
Anyway, you'll get to see two of the most surprising teams in college football. Both were projected to finish last in their conference. Iowa State at 10-2 has had a little tougher strength of schedule, but we need to look at who they have beaten and how. The Cyclones obviously have talent, but we can't confuse them with the team that had Brock Purdy and Breece Hall as roommates.
It can be argued that most of the recent teams they've beaten were going in the wrong direction.
For example:
1) Utah was on their 4th quarterback
2) Cincinnati was busy orchestrating a 5 game losing streak.
3) They needed two late fumble recoveries to beat Kansas State.
Conversely, just two games back, Arizona State dominated previously unbeaten BYU early. It looked like the two schools switched uniforms at halftime. The Wildcats were tentative and could have lost. But they regrouped in a wild ending and won.
Prior to that they easily beat Kansas State. Maybe their most impressive game of the season was last Saturday. It was the annual rivalry matchup with Arizona. That game is almost always close.
Arizona State won easily, leading 35-0 at halftime.
Ouch.
