We continued to get some good feedback with this over the past couple of weeks, so we are rolling it out for the NFL Conference Championship Games as well.
Remember...
There's a lot more that goes into handicapping a game than just stats, such as those that follow.
However, we often see people looking for this type of information, so we thought we would put some out there.
Models are great, but they constantly need revision and often don't account for certain advantages. What you saw last week won't necessarily happen next week.
With all that in mind, here is some interesting information for this Sunday's NFL Conference Championship Games.
A Few Notes:
All: All games played this season.
Playoff: All games played against playoff teams this season.
Common: All games played against common opponents based on a team's Conference opponent.
For Each Game:
The first block of data shows:
Total Points
Average Points
First Downs
Total Yards
Passing Yards
Rushing Yards
Turnovers
This data is compared between a team's offense and their opponent's defense, with the differences shown for the offensive stats.
The second block of data shows:
Straight Up (SU) records
Against the Spread (ATS) records
Total results for the current season for each team
These records are broken down by the Groups mentioned above.
Consensus lines and totals were used to calculate Win/Loss/Push.
